Lock Stock Poker Game Story Board

This is our storyboard for the lock stock poker games. After watching the first 1 minutes 53 seconds of the actually opening we chose the most important parts which helps to tell the story about what the film is going to be about. This is the parts we chose and what order they go in to keep the film in sequence.

The first shot is of the cards that determine the end of this game. But at this point the audience don't know whether theses are the winning cards or not.

Then we chose a extreme close up of one of the players eyes so people can try to feel what they are feeling while playing the game

Next we have a close up shot of the characters face showing his expressions and emotions.

Now we have a close up of the other player so people can see the difference in the expressions. And who is a more confident player in this game.

This shot is of the beginning of the older man laying his final cards down on the table bringing suspense for the final outcome.

This is a extreme close up of the younger mans eye as he sees the first card get laid on the table.

This is a close up of the older man final cards all laid out on the table.

This set of cards is the younger mans ones drawing an end to the poker game.

This last close up shot is of the younger mans expression when he realises he has lost the game.

Lock Stock Poker Game

This is our first attempt as a group to recreate the lock stock poker game opening with our 9 storyboard shots. To improve on this first video we made we would try again to get better still shots and get a better quality video outcome overall.

Surveillance Film

This film is our interpritation of how seven is shown. We created this on final cut pro. We used dark lighting, scratchy films and shaky camera movements. All of these factors help to create suspense and mystery at the beginning of a film making it perfect for the thriller genre.

Thriller Brianstorm

This brainstorm shows the major parts of how to make a film a thriller. I created the brainstorm on bubbl.us. The three main elements are mood and atmosphere, visual elements, story and characters and then example of thrillers. Then the important parts of how to create theses effects are points coming off of the idea.

Sterotype

This poster I created about stereotypes given to people in soaps, series and dramas. The speech bubble coming from there mouth tells you who they are, what television show they come from and what they are stereotyped to be.

Continuity Shots

Match On Action

A match on action shot means when something happens in a shot where there is a cut the same piece of acting needs to be going on to make the shot continuous. The music in the background and film will be continuous with no jumping in the footage.

Shot reverse Shot

A shot reverse shot is where one character is shown looking at another charcater and that charcater looks back at them. As the characters are shown facing in opposite directions they assume that the charcaters are in a conversation.

180 Degree Rule

The 180 degree shot is where the actors/actresses stand on one side of the set and the camera is positioned on the other and is not moved till the end of the scene. This is so the charcaters do not move side throughtout the scene.

Enemy of the State

The theme of the film is thriller and sets the opening the film with a mystery. In the opening you see CCTV of a blurry car chase, as well as the setting of monuments and top secret surveillance. The audience knows from here it is to do with surveillance as their is a lot of tracking themes and telephones. The dark costumes the characters are wearing brings a theme of threat, power and mystery. The contrast between the people is shown in costumes by the bad people wearing black and the good people wearing white. The 'bad men' are wearing gloves as they proceed to kill the 'good guy' with a needle. Once they had killed him they put him back in to his car and made it look like he committed suicide by using props like pills and his dog, before pushing the car into the lake. The music throughout this opening is tense with a strong beat creating the ultimate thriller theme.

usual suspects

The opening of usual suspects is very plan and simple. There is a shot of water with a flicker of light every couple of shots. This gives the mystery and suspense a thriller film needs by the audence not knowing what is happening. The water is continous and the light flicker are all blue with an od colour every now and again showing that things may change quicker then you think. The dark lighting is part of the mise-en-scene which helps to create the thriller feel in the film.

Taxi Driver

The opening of Taxi Driver introduces the main characters feelings while creating mystery by using extreme close up pictures to only show his eyes. This shows that the taxi driver is concentrating on the city roads while seeing that he is troubled by the goings on in the city. The taxi driver stops at a red light which could perceive some of the feeling hes has for the city and its people them being anger, passion, warning and murder. During the opening scenes we get to see the city thought he drivers eyes which is fussy and off point showing the drivers bleak view on the city life. He driver through sewer fog which hides him so he is not noticed by the people in the city. He is part of the environment knowing the ins and outs of the city and its streets. The driver fits in to the persona of a stalker searching the city for his next victim, creating a threat for the people of the city, (a predator looking for his prey). The opening scenes creates suspense by the audience watching the taxi driver look for his next victim in the city and waiting for him to take his next step.

Casino Royale

The name of the film itself Casino Royale gives the theme of cards and gambelling. The theme of cards is continued into the opening sequence via a pack of cards spreading out with the four suits helping to introduce the character James Bond. In the opening their are two men fighting throughout. One man has a red silhouette and the other man has a black one. This helps to show the audience which of the men is good and bad. James Bond is the man that has the black silhouette fighting against the red one and winning. The card theme is also significant as it tells the audience that anything could happen and creates suspense. The song playing throughout the opening is 'You Know My Name' which helps to reflect the pace of the film as well as heightening emotions and tensions within the audience. The position of characters in the mise-en-scene shows their status. This opening contains the iconic shot of James Bond through a barrel of a gun. Gun shots are used throughout the opening there is a bang of a gun at the very beginning as well as the gun being used as a weapon between the animated silhouettes with card suits being fired out if the guns. Another iconic shot is of the seven of hearts being shot twice to make the card read '007' James Bonds known digits. The guns and killings throughout the opening suits the genre action/thriller. This shows the audience are in for an exciting film as this is only the beginning.
