Continuity Shots

Match On Action

A match on action shot means when something happens in a shot where there is a cut the same piece of acting needs to be going on to make the shot continuous. The music in the background and film will be continuous with no jumping in the footage.

Shot reverse Shot

A shot reverse shot is where one character is shown looking at another charcater and that charcater looks back at them. As the characters are shown facing in opposite directions they assume that the charcaters are in a conversation.

180 Degree Rule

The 180 degree shot is where the actors/actresses stand on one side of the set and the camera is positioned on the other and is not moved till the end of the scene. This is so the charcaters do not move side throughtout the scene.
